● 1 egg

Basic recipe for mug cake

Preparation:

1. Use 2 tablespoons each of flour, sugar and milk, 1 tablespoon of neutral oil, 1 teaspoon of baking powder and an egg per mug. Combine the dry ingredients and then stir in the wet ingredients. Fill the mugs half full with dough. If you want to tip the mini cake out, make sure you grease the mug well beforehand.

2. Then put it in the microwave for 90 seconds at 800 watts. Or in the oven for 20 minutes at 180 °C. Mmmmmm!

Optional suggestions

Simply add what you like to the dough: cocoa powder, vanilla sugar, chocolate chips, almonds, nuts, rolled oats, dried, candied fruit or a drop of rum... Give free rein to your imagination. And why not try a savoury version? Maybe with leeks and crème fraîche?

Extra finish
If you tip out your mug cake, you can add icing sugar, chocolate sauce or sugar glaze. Even decorative sugar pearls or crumble. Or simply some cream or smooth custard. You’ll soon notice that the mini cakes will encourage you to experiment more and you’ll surprise yourself.

For vegans
For the basic recipe, replace the egg with half a mashed banana. Or 1½ tablespoons of ground linseed, mixed with 75 ml of water.
